Join Ruthie Weaver, Medical Herbalist to explore the sacred herbs of Yuletide. Plant medicine is at the heart of traditions around our seasonal earth based spirituality, with the associated herbal stories and folklore running as far back as recorded history .
What do we know about the herbs of Christmas; Mistletoe and oak, did you know that mistletoe is used in Europe as part of the mainstream approach to cancer care? 160 clinical studies have been carried out to explore its medicinal effects.
Why do we kiss under the bring in the evergreens and firs and dress our homes with white and red decorations. All of these practices stem from stories of the herbs. Ruth will discuss some Yuletide folklore whilst we gather to make a medicinal herbal tonic full of aromatic, warming winter herbs for you to take home.
There is no need for prior experience, both seasoned home herbalists and professionals will gain new skills through. Bring a small 50 – 100ml sterilised container (bottle or jar), notepad and pen.
These sessions will take place at Archie Browns, Bread St, Penzance starting at 1.30pm and finishing by 3.30pm.
